LYON ASSEMBLY 2015:  BE COURAGEOUS: RUNNING LIFE’S MAZE
I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous;
do not be frightened or dismayed,
for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)

Devotion #2:  Do not be frightened or dismayed!

Gathering Prayer:  (Ask a youth to lead this prayer, in these or similar words)

God of all, we thank you for this day, and all that it has held.  Open our hearts and minds, that we might continue to hear what you are trying to tell us this weekend, and to respond.  In your name we pray, Amen.

Questions:  Answer the following questions together as a group.

Where are you in life’s maze?

What are some things that you are afraid of? Things that cause you to stop moving forward in life’s maze?

What are some tools or strategies you could use when you are afraid?

Workshop recap:  Answer the following questions together as a group.  Ask someone to record your answers, as they will help in planning for future years.

What workshops did you attend?

What did you learn or experience?

What will you take home from this experience?

Activity:  Our theme verse for LYON Assembly this year is at the top of the sheet.  At the end of the weekend, we will all proclaim it together.  To that end, your group will come up with motions to act out the third phrase from this verse tonight: “do not be frightened or dismayed”.  You might want to write down some notes so you remember these motions tomorrow night.  Practice them (and review the ones from last night) until everyone in your group has them down.

Closing Prayer:  (Ask a youth to lead this prayer, in these or similar words)

O Lord you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
