Prayer Spiral from the Book of Judges

As I was developing a confirmation lesson for the Book of Judges, I was thinking of a prayer experience that involved a spiral.  This was what I came up with:

In the book of Judges, the people were caught in a cycle.  First, they would spiral downwards into sin and following other gods.  Then, God would raise up a judge, and they would spiral upwards into praise.  Then, the judge would die, and the people would spiral down again.  Use the double spiral below to write your confession prayers and thanksgiving for forgiveness prayers.  Begin at the outside arrow with confession.  When you reach the center, spiral back outwards with thanksgiving.  You may use your own words, or the words of Psalm 51:4a:  “Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight” and Psalm 71:3b “save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.”

Thanks to Praying in Color for the idea!  You can find the original here:

Here is my finished prayer spiral, so you get the idea:

You can use any confession or assurance psalm for this, or your own words!  God bless your time of creative prayer…
