#jesusbirthatoz daily devotion book

#jesusbirthatoz, Advent, Christmas, Epiphany

JB complete

You probably know the story of the birth of Jesus, with the shepherds and the angels and the baby Jesus in the manger, but have you ever wondered how this story begins?  And ends?  Here is a nine week daily devotion book which walks you through the whole story of the birth of Jesus from A to Z.  It is meant for you to begin on Christ the King Sunday (often toward the end of November), and conclude on Baptism of Our Lord Sunday (in January), but it will work at any time of the year when you wish to dive more deeply into the way in which Jesus became human and lived on this earth among us.

Because the final file is so large, I have divided it up into weekly segments.  May God bless your study!

#jesusbirthatoz Week 5

#jesusbirthatoz, Advent, Coloring Prayer

If you are reading this, you probably already know a little something about the birth of Jesus.  You know about shepherds, and angels, and a manger, and some Wise Men.  It might be such a familiar story to you that you barely even hear it when you gather with friends and family to light candles and sing Silent Night.  But do you know the whole story?  The story surrounding Jesus’ birth, and all of the people who waited for his coming and celebrated his birth?  From now until January 21, our parish is going to read through the whole story, from beginning to end, verse by verse, day by day.  Each day, there will be a few verses from the Bible, a focus image, a couple of questions, and a prayer.  You can receive these devotions in church, one week at a time.  I will also be posting them daily on Instagram and Facebook, if you prefer the digital version.  Here, on Good God Ideas, I will make them available one week at a time in pdf form.  God bless your journey from the throne to the manger to the throne!

Advent Praying in Color 2016: Christmas Eve

Advent, Prayer

I hope that you are having a wonderful time Following the Star as it rises this Advent.  For my star, I have decided to use the daily Word from www.adventword.org as the basis for my drawings.  Here is my star as Advent draws to a close with Christmas Eve:

As you can see, I couldn’t limit myself to such a small space, so my tiny drawings have spilled out over the edges.  I can’t wait to see what it will look like by Epiphany (January 6).

God’s blessings to you as you conclude your Advent journey in faith.  Watch tomorrow for a new way to add to this star throughout the 12 days of Christmas.

Stacked Star Ornament: Christmas Eve

Advent, Christmas, Prayer

I have been working diligently on my stacked star ornament over the course of Advent.  I even cheated and finished one day early.  Here are my stars at the end of Advent:

We have one more star to go!  Since it is large, I am planning to take all twelve days of Christmas to pray with it.  I will show you the final result on Epiphany.

If you missed this Praying in Color opportunity during Advent, you can catch up here:
